This preparation program gives parents the opportunity to consider the meaning of their own faith, to ask questions, discuss how to share and pass on their faith to their child(ren), affirm the Church\u2019s understanding of Baptism, and come to understand the elements of the Rite of Baptism itself. \u00a0These Sacrament of Baptism preparation sessions are held in the Church on the last Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm,\u00a0 with Deacon Mark Danis.\u00a0 Please call to schedule a preparation session as there are some months there are no couples to hold a session for. As you think about the baptism of your child, you might want to prayerfully begin to consider the following questions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What does faith mean to me\/my spouse?<\/li>\n<li>How do I\/we live my\/our faith?<\/li>\n<li>What is the faith I\/we want our child to have?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Parents should also give prayerful thought about whom they wish to be the Godparent(s) of their child.\u00a0 Godparent(s) should be committed Christians who are living their belief in Jesus.\u00a0 In accepting the responsibility of being a Godparent, the person is saying he\/she wishes to support the growth of the child to full Christian adulthood in faith, and the parents in their role as Christian parents.<\/p>\n<p>Godparent(s)must be at least 16 years old, and at least one of the Godparents must be a Catholic who has received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and regularly worships and participates in the church.\u00a0 One of the Godparents may be a member of another Christian faith.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Baptism is the first sacrament of initiation and a very important gift for your child.\u00a0 Please call our Regional Office at (937) 372-3193 or please click here and fill out the form to schedule your baptism..
