Mrs. Taylor Mackell<\/h1>\n

I spent the first 12 years of my teaching career as an Intervention Specialist in Centerville City Schools where I worked with students with mild to moderate disabilities in the resource room setting. I graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science in Education, majoring as an Intervention Specialist. I later went on to receive my Master\u2019s Degree in Literacy from the University of Dayton where I also acquired my reading endorsement. While working as an Intervention Specialist, I received training in Add-Vantage Math Recovery as well as Orton-Gillingham from the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education. Through these two professional development opportunities, I greatly enjoyed learning the best approaches to teaching foundational skills in math, reading, and writing, which led me to switch gears in my teaching career to transition into first grade.<\/p>\n

My husband and I live in Xenia with our five children. I am a native to the Dayton area. I attended St. Christopher School and then Chaminade Julienne High School. It is a blessing to be back in a Catholic school setting to teach children in a faith-filled classroom and school community each day.<\/p>\n

A favorite quote of mine by Scott Hayden says, \u201cTeachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first two loves together.\u201d Each day I bring to our classroom a love and excitement for our daily lessons to help the students connect and engage in their learning. Students in our classroom are constantly working together as a team, using multi-sensory approaches, and having fun!
