Wife for almost 33 years and mother to seven on earth and one in heaven, I am a homeschool veteran, piano teacher, and competitive speech coach. Many moons ago I earned a bachelor of arts in Music Therapy from the University of Dayton, and I worked in traumatic brain injury rehab, mental health, and hospice before taking a long hiatus to raise my family. Now that my youngest is in high school, I’m making the shift from teaching at home to teaching in a traditional school setting, beginning with teaching Latin I at the Chesterton Academy of St. Joseph in Fairborn last year. I love teaching in general, and I particularly love the study of language. Language/grammar is the gateway to all other learning, so I think it is an excellent place to start!
My husband and I welcomed our second grandchild in June, and we are adjusting to having our children living from coast to coast. I love making space to plant more flowers in our yard, searching far and wide for birds of all kinds, and learning how to earn airline points so we can visit our far-flung family. I’m still trying to learn how to love like St. Therese, and my favorite scripture verse is “For while gentle silence enveloped all things, and night in its swift course was now half gone, thy all-powerful word leaped from heaven, from the royal throne, into the midst of the land that was doomed,” Wisdom 18:14-15.
