Parent/Student Handbook

August 2024

Dear Parents and Students,

The purpose of the handbook is to familiarize you with the rules, regulations, procedures, and policies of St. Brigid School.  It contains guidelines that will ensure a safe and orderly environment wherein every student can achieve her/ his potential and can grow both academically and spiritually. The 2024-25 version of the handbook contains revisions. Even if you have read it in previous years, please reread it so that you are familiar with the changes.

Reflected in the “letter of the law” is the “spirit of the law.”  Beyond all the details of rules and regulations, policies and procedures, is the hope that all of us will embrace the Gospel values and live our lives as good and decent Christian men and women, to be like Jesus, of whom Luke writes: “Jesus, for his part, progressed steadily in wisdom, age, and grace before God and men.”  (Luke 2:52).   By working, praying, and serving together, we may certainly achieve these goals.

A handbook such as this one cannot contain every rule nor can it include every situation that may arise in the education and formation of students.  It can be, and should be, amended for just cause by the principal as needed.

After reviewing and discussing the contents of this handbook, keep it available for reference during the school year.  You may want to pay special attention to the Dress Code and Discipline sections as these historically are the most visited topics during the school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Ayers
